Dorothy Mildred Marie Yackel, Saginaw, Michigan

God welcomed Dorothy in to Heaven on Sunday evening, October 25, 2009, at the age of 94 years. The daughter of the late Esther (Borck) and Louis Schmidt was born on July 31, 1915, in Saginaw. She was a graduate of Michigan Lutheran Seminary Class of 1931. She married Joseph Felix Yackel on December 13, 1941; he passed away January 9, 1991. Dorothy was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Hemlock. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, especially with her club of over 60 years. Surviving are two sons, Gary Joseph (Mary Kay) and Randy James (Susan) Yackel, Saginaw; six grandchildren, Robert (Kristine) Yackel, Jeffrey (Heather) Yackel, Cindy (Bryan) Wolinski, and Kristin (Andrew) Friend, all of Saginaw; Cliff (Wendy) Yackel, Freeland; Stacy (Larson) Langschwager, Marshall; fifteen great-grandchildren, Matthew, Samantha, Colton, Jordan, Caleb, Mason, Meredith, Taylor, MacKenzie, Jayce, Gage, Zachary, Paige, Quinn and Jack; one great-great-grandson, Hunter Yackel. She was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Paul and Margaret Yaekel and David and Frances Paulus. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 2461 N. Raucholz Road, Hemlock. Rev. Martin J. Hagenow will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the W. L. Case & Company Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and then at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
