Edward Joseph Sefcik, Saginaw, Michigan, Formerly of Merrill, MI

Passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Age 82 years. He was born March 30, 1927 in Wheeler, Michigan, to the late Joseph and Sophia (Hanacik) Sefcik. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He had been employed by Dow Chemical Company. He was formerly a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Merrill. Surviving are one brother, Anthony and his wife Florence Sefcik; a twin sister, Betty Samuel, all of Merrill; several nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by one brother, three sisters, and their spouses, Steven and Deloris Sefcik, Sophia and Leo Woollard, Helen and Julius Kaufman, Mary and John Lichon, and by another brother-in-law, James Samuel. Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Merrill, where his family will receive friends from 8:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of Mass. Rev. Fr. Prentice Tipton will officiate with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Military honors will be under the auspices of the Hemlock – Merrill VFW Post #7302.
