Died on September 4, 2009 at the age of 85 after a lifetime of fulfillment and satisfaction. Jack was a chemist, a pharmacist, a salesman, a physician, and a surgeon. Jack served in the Naval Armed Guard in World War II and later became a purser in the Merchant Marine. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Jack was a lecturer, a correspondent, historian, author, world traveler, a team physician, a school board member, a magician and also survived a plane crash. He played basketball, was a bowler, golfer, and a skier. His greatest pride was his wife, Barbara who recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and their three children, Melany, Douglas, and Jason. Jack’s Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Fr. David L. Parsch will officiate. Military honors conducted under the auspices of American Legion Post #439. Following Jack’s wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd (off State) on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Vigil honoring Jack will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Jack will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the 11:00 a.m. Mass.
