Our beloved brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at his residence in Avoca, Michigan at the age of 74 years. Leon was born on November 14, 1934, in Saginaw to the late Henry L. and Theresa M. (DeShone) Pahssen. Leon attended the Saginaw Valley Rehabilitation Center from 1972 to December, 2006. He then attended the ARC of St. Clair County until his retirement in February of 2009. Leon was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He had many hobbies including bowling, fishing and metal detecting. He participated in several Special Olympic events. Surviving are three sisters and their spouses, Betty Lou Berg, Doreen (Dan) McDonald, Ginny (Harold) Boehler, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Pahssen and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, Leon was predeceased by a brother, Harry J. Pahssen, a sister, Marcella Jean Pahssen, and a brother-in-law, Cecil R. Berg. The family extends special thanks to the Korting Adult Foster Care Home where he lived for 15 years, and to his nephew and wife, Keith and Beth Berg with whom he made his home since December of 2006. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2009 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan, Saginaw. Rev. Richard Jozwiak will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd., from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. They may then call at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral liturgy.
