Gerald "Jerry" Packard
Passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Aleda E, Lutz VA Medical Center in the Palliative Care Unit. Age 80 years. Gerald Packard was born on November 21, 1928 in Saginaw, to the late Russell Sr. and Ina (Johnson) Packard. He was the owner and operator of a Gas Station on the corner of Sixth and Wadsworth. Jerry was also employed with General Motor Steering Gear. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, the American Legion Post # 22, Knights of Columbus Council 4232, and the Pulaski Club. Jerry served in the Korean War in Germany in Occupation Forces.  Surviving are three sisters: Betty Passariello of Saginaw, Donna (John) Brandi of Saginaw, Mary Ellen (Dale) MacConnel of Sun City, Arizona; one brother, Russell Jr. (Irene) Packard of Saginaw. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.  Jerry was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Louis Passariello.  The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the staff at the Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center and Dr. Anna Bartnik for all the care they provided Jerry.  Jerry’s Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn. Fr. James G. Heller will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery under the auspices of American Legion Post #22.  Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State) on Friday, June 19, 2009 from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A Vigil Service for Jerry will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Friday led by Sharon Wahl.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Stephen Catholic Church.
