Niendorf, Mrs. Mary K., Saginaw, Michigan

Loving mother and grandmother passed away Monday, December 28, 2009 at Luther Manor. Age 89 years. The daughter of the late Anton and Anna (Griesbaum) Hopfinger, Mary was born January 27, 1920 in New Baden, Illinois. She was married to William G. Niendorf on September 17, 1949 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bay City. He predeceased her May 18, 1985. Mary was employed by Fisher’s and Victra Corporation retiring in 1982. She was an active member of St. Josaphat Catholic Church where she served in numerous ministries. She was a member of St. Josaphat Altar-Rosary Society and the League of Catholic Women. Mary volunteered her time and talent at St. Josaphat School, the Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center and Carrollton V.F.W. Post #1859.  Surviving are three daughters and their spouses, Karen and Joseph Luplow, Debra and William Zapolski, Mary and William Salamon, all of Saginaw; eight grandchildren, Amy and Joseph Luplow, Krista, Kelly and Jeffrey Zapolski, Joshua (Christy), Katie and Zachary Salamon; several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by five brothers, Joseph, Frank, Cornelius, Louis and Rembert Hopfinger.  Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009 at St. Josaphat Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Ronald Dombrowski will officiate. Private interment will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. Friends may call at St. Josaphat Church where the family will be present on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass.
