Mrs. Marie F. Kowalski, Saginaw, Michigan

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Saginaw Senior Care & Rehabilitation.  Age 86 years. The daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Novak) Greenburg, Marie was born December 6, 1922 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Edwin C. Kowalski, her loving husband of 62 years, on February 15, 1947. He survives her. Marie was employed at Lufkin Rule Company and at Saginaw General Hospital. She was a past member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, a committed volunteer to Ss. Simon & Jude Catholic Church and a current member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Marie was also a member of the League of Catholic Women. Her many hobbies included dancing, knitting, crocheting and cooking. She was an avid collector of classic dolls. Her favorite pastime was rocking and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marie was her family’s cherished treasure with a quiet strength and the backbone of the family. She had an unwavering faith in God, with the gift of patience and forgiveness. Marie’s passion and hobbies revolved around her love for her family.  Surviving besides her husband Edwin are four daughters, three sons and their spouses, Marilyn Porras, St. Charles; Christine Archambault, Freeland; Mark and Marcia Kowalski, Freeland; Steven and Sue Kowalski, Hemlock; David and Beverly Kowalski, Saginaw; Mary Ann Arnett, Eaton Rapids; Rebecca and Mark Babcock, Saginaw; 19 grandchildren, Thomas Porras, Ann (Steve) Pacek, Lisa Wissner, Jason (Yvette) Archambault, Adam, Emily, Kayla, Steve, Nicholas, Jeffrey, Daniel, Dave (Heidi) and Chad Kowalski, Kristie Ferris, Renee Arnett, Brandon Arnett, Jill, Mark and Katie Babcock; eight great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Autumn, Olivia, Karissa, Nicole, Jacob, Anabelle and Joseph; several nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Ralph Porras and Randy Arnett, two grandchildren, Sgt. Ralph N. Porras and Amy Kowalski, and by a brother, Clarence Greenburg.  Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Randy Kelly will officiate with entombment in Oakwood Mausoleum. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be a Vigil Service 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
