Kenneth Charles "Mac" McKenna, Saginaw Michigan

Kenneth Charles McKenna, age 96 years, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Covenant – Cooper, from complications of pneumonia. Ken was born June 12, 1912 to Charles and Ruth McKenna. During World War II he served in the United States Merchant Marine. On June 18, 1949, he married Virginia Krueger; she survives him. This June, they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Ken was employed by Saginaw Steering Gear Division of General Motors, retiring as Senior Customer Contact in 1977 after 44 years of service. Mac loved his work traveling all over the United States, as well as Canada and Mexico. In his retirement, he was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was a member of the VFW in Bradenton, FL, American Legion Post #439 in Saginaw, the GM Salaried Retirees Club in Sarasota, FL, and was a past member of the Germania Town and Country Club and the Saginaw Field and Stream Club. In addition to his wife Virginia, he is survived by his daughter Kathleen Smith and her husband Michael; his grandson, John McKenna; and his brothers, William and Jack. He was preceded in death by his son Mark McKenna and his brothers Francis and Sidney. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, where his family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, and then on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Rev. Michael Herman will officiate with entombment in Oakwood Mausoleum. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a charity of their choice.
