Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away Thursday, December 24, 2009, after a courageous fight with illness. Age 52 years. Debra Kay Leach was born January 18, 1957 in Saginaw. She graduated from Bridgeport High School with the Class of 1975, and received her Associates Degree from Delta College. She had previously been employed by Second National Bank (now Citizens), Mutual Savings and E.D.S. She was currently employed by Dow Chemical Company. She was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles, and was an avid photographer. She married Leonard L. Kaufmann on April 3, 1994; he survives her. She also leaves one daughter and two grandchildren, Melanie Jernberg and her husband Wayne and their children Niklas and Katelyn, all of Grand Rapids; her mother Caroline E. Hart and her husband William, Saginaw; two brothers, Lisle Leach Jr. and his wife Vickie, Bridgeport; John Leach and his wife Debbie, Saginaw; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Lisle Leach Sr. and one nephew. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8795 Ederer Road. Rev. Wade Johnston will officiate. Her family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Monday, and from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, and then at the church Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
