Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and friend passed away Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Luther Manor.  Age 96 years.  Ernestine was born March 30, 1913, the daughter of the late Eva (Paradise) and Peter Girard in Saginaw.  She married Alphonse Holihan, May 25, 1932. He passed away in July of 1972.   Ernestine was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Saginaw until moving to Owosso in July of 1978.  She is a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Chesaning but often attended St. Joseph’s Church in Owosso.  Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and sharing special memories and meals at family gatherings with those she loved.  Surviving are five daughters, four sons and their spouses,  Jan and Dennis Birchmeier, Bridgeport; Sharleen and Mark Thiel, Florida; Julienne and Frank Santrucek, Owosso; Rosalie and Richard Rosenmeier; Brenda and James Rozek; Richard and Betty Holihan; Gerald and Ruth Holihan all of Saginaw; Nicholas and Diane Holihan, New Jersey; Timothy and Lynn Holihan, Las Vegas; thirty-seven grandchildren; sixty-four great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Bernice Girard, Saginaw; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents, husband and a son, John, a daughter, Joyce Fournier, a son-in-law, Gerald Fournier, a daughter-in-law, Barbara Holihan, three sisters, Hazel Stanzel, Margaret Ferchau, Beatrice Hanson; three brothers, Clarence, Francis and Claude Girard and a granddaughter, Cheryl Holihan.  The funeral liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 3680 S. Washington Road.  Rev. Frank Voris, O.F.M. Cap. will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Hwy from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friends may then call at the Church from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the funeral liturgy.
