Velma M. Hickey, Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Saturday September 5, 2009 at Healthsource of Saginaw at the age of 78 years. Velma M. Keeton was born November 11, 1930 in Texas. She joined the U.S. Air Force in July of 1949 where she met her husband Arthur Hickey and then she came to Michigan. She was past president of the Women’s League of Voters and was Saginaw Women’s Trapshooting State Champion in the 1960’s and 70’s. She was an avid outdoorswoman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially duck hunting. She moved to Florida in 1973, where she opened her own Marine Canvas Shop in West Palm Beach, Florida. Surviving are her children Michael Hickey and his wife Elizabeth of Freeland, Susan Miller and her husband Rick of Saginaw, Arthur Hickey of Saginaw and Quinn Hickey and his wife Jill of Freeland, seven grandchildren Heather , Jennifer, Tiffany, David, Valrie, Austin and Haley, seven great-grandchildren and her three sisters Celesti, Bobbie and her twin sister Thelma (Red). She was predeceased by her mother Leila Keeton, one daughter Kimberly Brewer and one granddaughter Stephanie Brewer. Funeral Service will take place 7:00 p.m. Wednesday September 9, 2009 at the W.L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel 201 N. Miller Road. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service.
