Leonard A. Guida, Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved father, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle passed away early Monday, June 08, 2009, at his home. Age 88 years. The son of the late Joseph and Mary Congetta (Bavuso) Guida, was born November 30, 1920, in Saginaw. As a student at Arthur Hill High School, he was lead trumpet player and director assistant of their orchestra and band for four years, graduating in 1940. He also had his own dance band called Len Guida’s Harmony Four. He worked for his uncle at Guida Dry Cleaners, until he purchased it in the late 1940’s. He was married to the love of his life, Gladys Irene Crook, on October 8, 1949 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Saginaw. She preceded him in death on October 6, 2008. He was loved by his two sons, Michael Anthony, who preceded him in death on September 1, 1993, and Mark William, of Saginaw, who survives him. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Josephine Pasionek, St. Charles; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jay and Elenora Bohn, Hemlock; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers, Lucille (John) Ventriglia, Annarose (Lyle) Robinson, Nick (Annie) Guida and Frank (Grace) Guida; also brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joseph Pasionek, Bill and June Crook, and Mary Bohn. During his life, he was a member of the Dry Cleaners Association, Order Sons of Italy in America Lodge 2456, the Knights of Columbus Council 593, and Saginaw Musical Association Local 57 A. F. of M. A special thanks to Heartland Homecare and Hospice of Bay City for their contribution and care in Leonard’s peaceful passing in the comfort of his home as he reached the face of God. To my Uncle Jay and Aunt Elenora for their love, guidance, and endless support through this journey with my father, all my love and gratitude. I could not have done this without both of you. Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, where his family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, then from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Friday. Rev. Fr. Joseph Schabel will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery.
