Thomas Grobaski, Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at the age of 86 years. Thomas Grobaski was born on May 20, 1923 in Pellston, Michigan to the late Paul and Marie (McLin) Grobaski. He was raised in Pellston, settling in Saginaw after serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII. On November 28, 1953 he married his wife of 45 years Agatha Weigl, she predeceased him on July 29, 1999. Thomas was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. Thomas enjoyed magic and was a member of the Society of American Magicians – Michigan Chapter.  Surviving are a daughter, Sue Ann Grobaski and her boyfriend, Shellie Fitzpatrick; a son, Thomas C. Grobaski II and his wife, Sherry, all of Saginaw; three grandsons, Marcus Fitzpatrick, Joshua Grobaski and Alex Grobaski; a brother, Jack (Leola) Grobaski; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Ben and Tootie Schafer.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Grobaski.  Thomas’ Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2009 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn. Rev. Fr. James G. Heller will officiate.  Rite of Committal will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday, October 16, 2009 from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Vigil Service honoring Thomas will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. Thomas will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Grobaski Discretionary Fund.
