Barbara P. Frost
Passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Covenant – Cooper. Age 86 years. Barbara Phillips was born July 4, 1922, in Detroit, the daughter of the late Jim and Frances (Ellis) Phillips. She served with the US Navy Waves during World War II. She married Donald L. Frost Sr. on July 24, 1948; he predeceased her October 21, 2001. She and her husband engaged in farming in Hemlock. Barbara went back to college and received her LPN in 1977 and worked at Saginaw General Hospital (now Covenant) and the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, both in Saginaw. In 1981, they moved to Florida, where Barbara was employed by the VA in Tampa. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Saginaw. Surviving are her three sons and two daughters, Donald Frost Jr. and Nancy Kiley, Saginaw; John and Marianne Frost, Freeport; James Frost, Saginaw; Karen and Greg Lorencz, Jackson; Sharon and Steve Starks, Shepherd; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Frank Schramke; many nieces, nephews, and their families. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by one granddaughter, one brother, James Phillips, and one sister, Patricia Storr. Funeral Liturgy will take place 12:00 noon Saturday, June 20, 2009, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan. Rev. Fr. John Mancini, OSFS, will officiate with entombment in St. Andrew Mausoleum. Her family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday where they may at 7:30 p.m. Friday for a vigil service. Friends and family may then call at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Aleda E.
