Virginia Fiyak, Bridgeport, Michigan

Loving sister and aunt passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. Age 87 years. Daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Firzst) Fiyak, Virginia was born July 27, 1922 in Carrollton, Michigan. She was employed at Lufkin Rule and then at Grey Iron Foundry retiring in 1990. Virginia was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and U.A.W. Local #668. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, going to the casino and spending time with her dogs, Ozzie and Mickey. Surviving are one sister, Helen and Theodore Dzurka, Bay City; two sister-in-laws, Lucille Watz and Edna Masters; several nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers, Stephen Fijak, Julia Weston, Frank, Joseph, Walter and John Fiyak and a dear friend, Tony Szwed. Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at St. Christopher Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. John Mancini, OSFS will officiate with burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Bay City, Michigan at 1:30 p.m. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty) where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at St. Christopher Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the United Federal Credit Union of Bridgeport for the benefit of Jessica Johnston or Saginaw County Humane Society.
