Alvina G. Coffey, Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Monday, June 22, 2009 at St. Mary's of Michigan at the age of 99 years. Alvina Eichorst was born in Waterloo, Iowa March 25, 1910 the daughter of the late Henry and Irene (Schiffler) Eichorst. She graduated from Milwaukee Hospital School of Nursing, Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1931. Alvina married Virgil C. Coffey August 27, 1938. He predeceased her January 18, 1970. She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church. She was a Registered Nurse, working at St. Mary's Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1978. Alvina is survived by two sons and one daughter, Lanny (Marie) Coffey, Buffalo, New York, Terry Coffey (Hsiu-Hua Chan), Denver, Colorado and Kathy Koenig, Saginaw; three grandsons, Kevin and Jeff Koenig, Saginaw, Sean (Jully) Coffey, Chicago, Illinois; two granddaughters, Kari Koenig, Saginaw and Traci (Jason) Altman, Hillsborough, New Jersey; a great grandson, Carter Altman and a great granddaughter, Payton Altman; one sister, Evelyn Saathoff, Tacoma, Washington and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Helene Madsen. The Funeral Mass will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009 at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2445 N. Charles St. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at W. L. Case and company, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. and at church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
