Mr. Mark C. Butterfield, Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father and son passed away suddenly Sunday, November 29, 2009 at his home. Age 55 years. The son of Irene (Engelhardt) Butterfield and the late Albert Butterfield, Mark was born December 11, 1953 in Bay City, Michigan. He graduated from University of Michigan with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. Mark married Nancy Nutt, his loving wife of 31 years, on May 27, 1978. She survives him. He was employed at Consumers Energy for nearly 30 years. Mark was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved following his children as they played sports.  Surviving besides his wife Nancy are two sons and one daughter, Matt Butterfield and his wife Melanie, Midland; Elizabeth Butterfield and her fiancé John Polzin II, Saginaw; Scott Butterfield, Saginaw; Mark’s mother, Irene Butterfield, Bay City; twin brothers, Kevin and Gail Butterfield, Ludington; Keith and Linda Butterfield, Big Rapids; Mark’s father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Elizabeth Nutt, Bay City; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael and Kathy Nutt, Naperville, Illinois; Robert and Claudia Nutt, Darien, Illinois; Jay and Debbie Nutt, Woodlands, Texas; several nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Albert Butterfield.  Honoring Mr. Butterfield’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Randy Kelly will officiate. Friends may call at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where the family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the wishes of the family.
