Loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away at the Lutheran Home of Frankenmuth on Friday, August 21, 2009, at the age of 84 years. Alberta Jean Mueller, the daughter of the late William and Ruth (Beeler) Mueller, was born on May 31, 1925, in Elmhurst, IL. Alberta was a graduate of York Community High School and was employed by the Continental IL. National Bank of Chicago. She met Walter “Buck” Buckner during World War II and they were married August 16, 1944, in Elkton, Maryland. They later moved to Spaulding Township in 1948. He predeceased her in October 2001. After she moved to Spaulding Township, Alberta was a long time member of Bridgeport Community Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild, Women in Christ and the memorial committee. She loved working with children as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, March of Dimes, Bridgeport/Spaulding PTA, Advisor and Executive Board Member of the R.E.A.D. program, and Director and Bible school worker. Alberta greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and gardening (especially her flowers), golf, needlework, knitting, reading, sewing and walking. She enjoyed having cats and dogs as pets; she was never able to pass up a stray. She enjoyed the companionship of the therapy dogs during her final years. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her two children: Catherine (Earl) Miller of Lake Isabella and Michael (Denise) Buckner of Spaulding; three grandchildren, Jill (fiancé Michael Schian) Buckner, Kevin Buckner of Spaulding and 2nd LT Kelly Buckner of Clarksville, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Her brother William Mueller II predeceased her. The family would like to thank all the nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab and Independence Village for the loyalty in care of Alberta while she was there. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Bridgeport Community Church 3815 State St. Pastor Ronald L. Sinclair will officiate. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the R.E.A.D.
