Robert G. (Bob) Brown, Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Thursday December 17, 2009, at the Cartwright Care Center.  Age 89 years.  The son of the late Michael and Stella (Cashman) Brown was born July 20, 1920 in Acme, Iowa, the eldest of six children. He was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School, Class of 1940. He served with the U. S. Navy in North Africa and participated in the Mediterranean campaigns of WWII. at Anzio and Salerno on board LCT 198.  He was a member of V.F.W. Post 9809.  Robert married Edna Radina, June 25, 1949. She survives him.  He was a longtime member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Zilwaukee.  He and his three brothers were employed as sheet metal workers with Sheet Metal Worker’s International Association Local #7 for over 60 years. He was a founding member and President of the Building Trades Credit Union. His favorite task was tending to his 100 rose bushes and he enjoyed watching Notre Dame Fighting Irish play football.  Surviving besides his wife, Edna, are two sons and their wives. Mike and Monica Brown, Birch Run; Patrick and Debra Brown, Saginaw; six grandchildren and their spouses, Jodie and Joe Scheid; Robert and Andrea Brown; Pete, Griffin, Sean and Erin Brown; several nieces and nephews.  Three brothers, two sisters, Cletus, Bernadine, Clementine, Jim and John, have predeceased him.  The funeral liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 511 W. Cornell St., Zilwaukee.  Rev. Ronald Dombrowski will officiate with Military burial in St. Andrew Cemetery under the auspices of V.F.W. Post #1859. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Friday where they will meet at 7:00 pm. for a vigil service. Friends may then call at the Church from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of the funeral liturgy. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Matthew Catholic Church, Zilwaukee or the Cartwright Care Center.
