Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away Monday, July 13, 2009 at his home, following a lingering illness. Age 77 years. The son of the late Russell and Cornelia (Donley) Bonner was born August 28, 1931 in Saginaw. He married his high school sweetheart, Carla Stemple, June 7, 1952. She survives him. He served with the U. S. Army, Military Police, during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post #439. He was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone Co. retiring in 1988 with thirty-two years of service. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and attended St. John Episcopal Church. He loved his grandchildren, their sports and activities, and travelling “up north” with his family, especially to Burt Lake. Surviving besides his wife, Carla, are his children and their spouses, Ronald Bonner, Ashville, NC; Cheryl Bonner, Ft. Myers, FL; Lynette and Dale Bradfield; Cynthia and Mark O’Brien all of Saginaw; four grandchildren, Heather and Joshua Duby; Ryan Bradfield and his fiancée, Caitie Murphy; Amanda and Jason O’Brien; two great granddaughters, Kayla and Isabella Duby; a brother, Russell Bonner; a half-brother, Richard Fischer, both of San Diego, CA; a brother-in-law, Ronald and Vickie Stemple; a sister-in-law, Joan Jarabek; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his in-laws, Carlton and Elsa Stemple, a half-brother, Edward Fischer and a brother-in-law, Daniel Jarabek. The funeral service will take place at Noon Friday, July 17, 2009, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. The Rev. Darren Elin will officiate with military entombment in Chapel Hill Mausoleum under the auspices of American Legion Post #439. Friends may call at the Chapel from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the A &D Charitable Foundation.
