Zolinski, Dorothy Frances, Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went with the angels to be with Jesus in Heaven on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Daughter of the late Walter and Frances (Hadynski) Berkowski, Dorothy was born July 8, 1931 in Bay City, Michigan. She was married to Harold Anthony Zolinski on June 10, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He predeceased her on October 8, 2004 after 53 years of marriage. Dorothy was a kind, loving gentle spirit who devoted her entire life to always putting the needs of her family first, ahead of her own. She devoted herself completely to helping raise her grandchildren, Ben and Abby, her proudest accomplishments. Dorothy always saw the beauty in nature and had a great love of animals, especially feeding her birds and squirrels every day. She was a voracious reader and especially loved reading her People Magazines graciously supplied by family friend, Lori Gwizdala. She also loved reading and collecting cook books especially Goose Berry Patch. Dorothy was an accomplished Polish cook who always made everything from scratch. She will be remembered for her delicious soups, especially her homemade chicken soup that had special healing powers. Dorothy was famous for her homemade banana cake that could never be duplicated by anyone who tried. She never missed an episode of her favorite show, Dancing with the Stars. She enjoyed dining out in restaurants, especially having her Frankenmuth Chicken Dinners. She was a devote Catholic and deeply religious woman who had a loving faith in God and raised and instilled in her daughters those strong Christian Beliefs throughout their entire lives. Dorothy was a tremendously loving, generous, giving mother and grandmother whose priceless life lessons will never be forgotten and her legacy of love will continue in all of us. Surviving are loving daughters, Audrey (Daniel) Torrez and Jennifer Zolinski; two grandchildren, Benjamin (Jen) Torrez and Abby Torrez and great-granddaughter, Kyleigh. Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Walt Berkowski and by her beloved sheepdog, Olly. We will remember our Mom every time we see the awesome beauty of a sunrise or sunset, a glorious harvest moon, the beauty of sunflowers and apple blossom trees. She will be deeply missed by her entire family. Her tremendous Strength, Beauty and Humility will continue to live within us, forever until we meet again. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Faith Abbott, Dr. Al Rejleh, Dr. John Collins and Wellspring Lutheran Homecare Service for their compassionate care. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Casimir site, 2122 S. Jefferson, Saginaw. Rev. Fr.
