Wolfgang, Leona B., Breckenridge, Michigan

Passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Masonic Pathways in Alma with her loving husband at her side. Age 86 years. She was born September 11, 1928 in Elizabeth, West Virginia the daughter of William Robert and Alma Mae (Kemp) Busch and moved with her family to Breckenridge in 1939. She attended Puffer Elementary School and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1946. On June 8, 1947 she married Jacob Seymour Wolfgang at her parents’ home in Breckenridge. Leona spent 51 years serving the communities of Gratiot County in the Restaurant Business. She started working at the age of 13 as a dishwasher for Frank and Luella Anshutz at the original Anshutz Café in 1954 went in Alma to work as a Manager and Waitress at the Star Restaurant for Donna and Bernie Bordsen and continued for 23 years working under Dar Naffziger. She spent her remaining working years at Whitneys in Breckenridge as a Manager and Cook. Leona was a faithful member of the Breckenridge United Methodist Church and a member of their United Methodist Women. 22 years ago, Leona started the Chicken Dinners, still held at the Methodist Church today. With her great efforts the dinners were able to help fund the addition of the fellowship hall at the church. She was also a member of the Easter Star Chapter 323, Good Sam Camping Club Chapter 75 and the Edmore VFW Auxiliary. Leona is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jacob of Breckenridge, a brother-in-law, Ben Wolfgang of Lake, sister-in-law, Joanne Story of Wheeler and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Wayne and Bill Busch. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Breckenridge United Methodist Church with Pastor Paul Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel, Breckenridge.
