Tobias, Kathy Mae, Carrollton Township, Michigan

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Covenant HealthCare-Cooper Campus. Age 77 years. The daughter of the late Richard and Lorna (Thomas) Collins, Kathy was born on May 27, 1937 in Bad Axe, Michigan. She married Ken Tobias on February 11, 1956. He survives her. She was employed at J.C. Penny for 42 years. Kathy was a volunteer at Covenant HealthCare for over two years. Each year she provided a wonderful Christmas to a less fortunate family in need through the Carrollton School District. Kathy was an avid walker and was very proud that she had the opportunity to walk the Mackinaw Bridge. She was a member of the Jaycettes. Kathy was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed shopping, cooking, baking but most of all spending time with her family and her grandchildren. Kathy was also a proud and dedicated foster parent for many years. Her family will always remember her soaking up the sun and keeping an endless supply of chocolate covered peanuts and peanut M&M’s. Surviving besides her husband Ken are three sons and three daughters, Jeffrey and Becky Tobias, Saginaw; Cindi and Steve Feldt, Saginaw; Lisa and Jim Newman, Little Rock, Arkansas; Lorri and Bill Feriend, Saginaw; Michael Tobias, Fishers, Indiana; Christopher and Keri Tobias, Fishers, Indiana; 14 grandchildren, Zachary, Katie, Betsy, Ryan, Kendra, Kelsi, William, Logan, Jordan, Haylee, Hayden, Zeke, Bryce, Mia; five great-grandchildren, Mason, Charlotte, Griffin, Grant and Nora; a nephew, R.J. Collins and a niece, Heather and Adam (Collins) Shustock. Kathy was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lee Tobias, and by her brother, Franklin “Pink” Collins. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the tremendous and loving care given to Kathy by Dr. Tyagi and the Covenant HealthCare Critical Care Staff. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road. Rev. Fr. John Sarge will officiate. Honoring Mrs. Tobias’ wishes cremation will follow and private inurnment will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Bad Axe. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Carrollton Elementary Schools Christmas Wish Program for Families in Need or Covenant HealthCare Volunteer Fund.
