Sova, Thomas A., Freeland, Michigan

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 at Covenant Medical Center Cooper following a brief illness. Age 72 years. The son of the late Vincent and Cecelia (Belchek) Sova, Tom was born August 23, 1942 in Saginaw, Michigan. Tom was previously married to Jan Sova. He married Roxana (Roxy) Somerville on June 22, 1991 and would have celebrated their 24th anniversary later this month. She survives him. Tom was employed at General Motors for 30 years until his retirement in 1998. He was very devoted to peace in the world and had demonstrated that commitment numerous times. Tom was an avid sports fan and could play any sport. He enjoyed taking care of his animals, especially his horses and dogs. Most of all, he loved times spent with family and friends. Surviving besides his wife Roxy are twin children, Bill and Patty Sova, Freeland; Laurie Finney, Freeland; four grandchildren, Meagan Finney, Graham Sova, Kelsey Finney and Seth Sova; six brothers and two sisters, Chuck and Loretta Sova, Gary and Joann Sova, Fred and Amy Sova, Connie and Ken Fowler, Bill and Penny Sova, Dennis and Susan Sova, Tim Sova, Kathy and Paul Wizner; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gary and Cathy Somerville, Maryann and Mike Ellery, Jim and Mary Somerville; many ieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Sauve, by a nephew, Michael Sova, and by a great-niece, Brooke Sova. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road. Pastor Ed Lawrence will officiate. Honoring Mr. Sova’s wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
