Smith, Myrna L., Alma, Michigan

Passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Masonic Pathways in Alma, where she has resided the past 10 years. Age 93 years. She was born on September 6, 1921 in Huzzah, Missouri the daughter of Olin and Ollie (Blunt) Wigger. She met Robert D. Smith at the Jefferson Barracks and they were married on March 8, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri. Shortly after the wedding they moved to Michigan, where they spent the rest of their lives. Myrna worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in St. Louis, Missouri for several years and volunteered as a Foster Grandma with St. Louis Schools. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Myrna is survived by two sons, Robert D. (Susan) Smith, Jr. of Alma and Richard (Nancy) Smith of St. Louis, eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren with one on the way and a great-great-grandson. Also her siblings, Margaret Midgett of St. Louis, MO, Philip (Pat) Wigger of Honea Path, SC, Charlie (Rebekah) Wigger of Courtios, MO and Tommy (Sharon) Wigger of Belgrade, MO and a sister-in-law, Ruth Spencer of Alma. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert in 1999, her son, Michael Smith, daughter-in-law, Linda Smith and a brother, Robert Wigger. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma with Pastor Karen Kinney officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
