Salesky, Robert (Bob), Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 following a lengthy illness at his home with his wife Nancy at his side. Age 85 years. The son of the late Charles and Anna (Bottke) Salesky, Bob was born February 18, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1948. Bob then attended and graduated from Michigan State University and graduated with his B.A. in 1952. He married Nancy Ann Gudritz, his loving wife of 62 years, on February 28, 1953. She survives him. One week after his marriage, Bob shipped out to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955 and was a member of American Legion Post #439. Upon his return to the States, he began his first job in purchasing at Consumers Power Company in Jackson, Michigan, where he worked for six years. Bob then returned to Saginaw to be with his extended family and started working for R.H. Taylor where he was a sales representative in industrial plumbing and well drilling supplies. In 1968, he began work at Saginaw Steering Gear where he worked in purchasing until his retirement in 1993. Bob was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed wintering in Florida and loved time spent with his family. Surviving besides his wife Nancy are two sons and their spouses, Steve and Felicia Salesky, Saginaw; Matt and Ellen Salesky, Higgins Lake; Bob’s grandchildren, Kyle Salesky, Santa Ana, California; Karly Salesky, Saginaw; Scott and Jackie Callaghan, Annapolis, Maryland; Brian Callaghan and his fiancée Kelley Allen, Grasonville, Maryland; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dave and Brenda Gudritz and Jean McMurry; several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by a son, Todd Salesky, two sisters, Carol Kleekamp and Lorraine Besson, and by a brother-in-law, Jack Gudritz. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave., Saginaw. Pastor Paul Hinz will officiate. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens where military honors will be present by American Legion Post #439. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, where the family will be present on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and at Peace Lutheran Church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
