Olszewski, Valerian S., Saginaw, Michigan


Beloved brother and uncle passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center with his family at his side. Age 90 years. Son of the late Bronislaw and Jozefa (Kaniszewska) Olszewski, Valerian was born December 16, 1924 in Saginaw, Michigan. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. Valerian was employed at Lufkin Rule and the U.S. Postal Service. He was a past member of St. George Catholic Church now St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Valerian was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. Surviving are his sister, Isabel Lienczewski, Saginaw; his sister-in-law, Theresa Olszewski; many nieces and nephews. Valerian was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Lazowski and seven brothers, Wladyslow (Walt), Frank, Sam, Walt (Duke), Edward, Edwin and Theodore Olszewski. Sincere appreciation for the attentive, individualized care provided at the Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Palliative Care Unit. Special thanks to Dr. Bartnik, Pam Maloy, Chaplin Parker, Deanna, Rob, Robert, Diane, Michelle, Mike, Lisa, Mark, Linda, Brian, Keri and Kim for their outstanding skills. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Casimir Church site, 2122 S. Jefferson, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Thomas Schmied, OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Military Services conducted by V.F. W. Post #1859. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, where the family will be present on Friday from 2-8 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of Mass.
