Nichols, Jerome E., Saginaw, Michigan


Passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Covenant Medical Center. Age 82 years. Jerome Edward Nichols was born on December 5, 1932, in Saginaw to the late Albertie C. and Edith M. (Hayes) Nichols. Jerome was married to Doris A. Engerer for 60 years and she survives him. Jerome served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, as a supervisor, he had worked at Consumers Energy for over 40 years. He enjoyed woodworking, carving, hunting and the family camping trips. He was a member of Holy Cross Ev. Lutheran Church, having served on various boards. Surviving besides his wife, Doris, are their three children, Mark (Michelle) Nichols, Boyne City; Steven (Christine) Nichols, Midland; Lisa (Scott) Martin, Saginaw; one daughter-in-law, Lynn DeGrace; four grandchildren, Kyle Nichols (Brandi Monroe), Joshua Nichols, Ashley Nichols, Kara (Mark) Foster; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Allen (Aloma) Engerer, TX. He was predeceased by his son, David, his granddaughter, Amanda, and his brother and sister-in-law, Calvin and Caroline Nichols. Funeral and Committal services will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Holy Cross Ev. Lutheran Church, 600 Court St., Saginaw. The Rev. James F. Krueger will officiate. Private family burial will follow later in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., then at the church on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of his services. Memorial contributions may be given to Holy Cross Ev.
