Luth, Charles H., Saginaw Township, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015 at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center. Age 83 years. Son of the late John and Cecelia (Kingham) Luth, Charles was born September 25, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Sophia A. Zdrojkowski, his loving wife of 60 years, on May 28, 1955. She survives him. Charles was employed at G.M. Grey Iron for 37 years and member of U.A.W. Local 668. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, a devote Detroit Tiger fan and an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving besides his wife Sophia are three sons and two daughters, Tom and Marianne Luth, Saginaw; Mike and Starr Luth, Saginaw; Bob and Pam Luth, Saginaw; Kathy Heinz and Britt Heinz, Saginaw; Julie and Leonard Lewis, Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Janet and Dave Nikolai, Freeland; several nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Carol Ann Luth and Mary Jo Luth and his brother, John D. and Joan Luth. A special thank you to the staff at St. Mary’s of Michigan especially the Intensive Care Unit for the love and care they have given. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Richard Bokinskie will officiate. Honoring Mr. Luth’s wishes cremation will follow with private burial of cremains in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, where the family will be present on Sunday from 1-6 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
