Kurumety MD, Captain Suryarao, Saginaw, Michigan

A beloved husband, father, grandfather and dedicated doctor and retired Captain of the U.S. Navy passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday evening, February 28th surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. Born in July 1935 in Andra Pradesh, India as the only son of late Damodarao and Mangaraju Kurumety. He immigrated to the United States in 1974 and practiced as a Radiologist in Philadelphia, PA, Bethesda, MD and Portsmouth, VA, prior to settling down in Saginaw, Michigan in 1982. While living in Saginaw with his wife, Kamala Kurumety, he served as a Radiologist at several local area hospitals as well as at the Saginaw Naval Reserve Center and the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center. He married Kamala in Vizianagaram, India in 1956. Besides his lovely wife, he is survived by his four children Suseela Yalamarthy, Ravi Kurumety (wife Serena Kurumety), Sudha Gollapudi (husband Arun Gollapudi) and Usha Bulusu (husband Aditya Bulusu) and nine grand children Ayesha and Neel Yalamarthy, Sasha and Sahas Kurumety, Shilpa and Karthik Gollapudi and Arjun, Asha and Veena Bulusu. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all the excellent physicians, surgeons, nurses and caregivers involved in his care, St Mary's of Michigan Medical Center, Reverence Hospice Services as well as all the wonderful family and friends that stood by them through this difficult time. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Saginaw Country Club. Special services include Hindu Karma Puja and Military Honors.
