Kuna, Anthony John, Alma, Michigan


Passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Gratiot in Alma. Age 91 years. He was born April 23, 1923 in Shepherd, Michigan the son of Michael and Magdalena (Bebjak) Kuna. Tony served his country in the United States Army during WWII stationed in Europe with the 71st Artillery. He took part in the liberation of a concentration camp in Austria before his honorable discharge. On April 14, 1946 he married Dorlane Ottilie Plank. Tony retired from the Custodial Department of Central Michigan University in 1988 after 10 years of service. He ran Tony’s Repair Service out of his home in Alma, helping repair appliances for over 40 years. Tony could always be found tinkering and rarely found something he could not fix. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping and was an excellent cook. He was a member of the Alma VFW, CSA Hall in St. Louis and the First United Methodist Church in St. Louis. Tony is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Ringle of St. Louis and Laurie Kuna of Lowell, two grandchildren, Ryan (Adva) Ringle of Lansing, Toni Richmond of Wakefield, Mass., a great-grandson, Chase Richmond, sisters, Annie Sabatovich of St. Louis and Arlene Marzolf of Littleton, CO. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorlane in 2004, parents, Michael Kuna and Magdalena Kuna-Kristal, step-father, Frank Kristal, a sister, Elizabeth Martin and a brother, Frank Kristal. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in St. Louis with Pastor Terri Bentley officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Alma. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 26, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma.
