Knowles, Linda Mae (Baldwin), Alma, Michigan

Passed away in East Lansing at age 73, on July 25, 2015. She was born in Tecumseh, MI on June 17, 1942, the daughter of Lura (Ball) Baldwin and Ned Baldwin. She graduated from Tecumseh High School, class of 1960, and later graduated from Central Michigan University. Linda taught Physical Education at Ithaca High School in the early 1970s and worked with pre-school aged children and their parents for 31 years as a Head Start teacher in Alma. Linda loved animals and spent many happy hours caring for her cats and dogs. She was a faithful and enthusiastic Michigan State Spartans fan. If the game was on, Linda was dressed in green and white and cheering. She enjoyed movies, books and chatting with friends at the hair salon. She cherished the friends that accompanied her on shopping trips and gave her the opportunity to use her ‘good’ dishes. She loved traveling and spending time with her daughters and their families. Linda is survived by her brother, Earl (Mary) Baldwin of Oscoda, Michigan, her daughter, Brenda Golbus of Minneapolis, Minnesota and daughter, Lisa Knowles (Bill Arnold) of East Lansing, Michigan, and grandchildren Bryson, Josh and Anna Golbus and Amelia and Alex Arnold. She was preceded in death by her parents Lura and Ned Baldwin, her sister, Yolande (Arthur) Williams and brother, Tom Baldwin. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Wickes officiating. In lieu of flowers, please honor Linda’s memory by making contributions to Hospice of Lansing or the Capital Area Humane Society.
