Jakes, Jane H., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Community Village. Age 95 years. The daughter of the late Archibald and Grace (Worthen) Campbell, Jane was born on November 19, 1919 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. After her mother’s death, when Jane was eight years old, her father moved the family to California. It was there that she met her husband-to-be, Bruce Jakes, as he returned from the Pacific at the end of WWII. They were married on February 23, 1946. He predeceased her on June 22, 1999. After they were married, he took Jane back to his native Michigan where she was active in Shields Study Club and Campfire Girls. Jane was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church for more than 54 years. She was well known amongst family and friends as an excellent baker, seamstress and euchre player. Surviving are one daughter and one son, Ruth Jakes, Saginaw and Gregory and Colleen Jakes, Dearborn; many nieces and nephews. Jane was preceded in death by a brother, Ned Campbell. The family wishes to extend a special thank you for the many members of the Community Village staff whose extra efforts and attention made Jane’s final days as pleasant as possible. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 8695 Gratiot Road. Pastor Julie Bailey will officiate. Private entombment will take place in Oakwood Mausoleum. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
