Beloved daughter, mother and sister was greeted by her Lord on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Age 56 years. The daughter of Mary Ann (Ewald) Jahnke and the late Harold Jahnke, Barbara was born on May 23, 1959 in Saginaw, Michigan. Barbara completed her undergraduate degree at Alma College and then later graduated from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She completed her residencies at Eastern Virginia University and Georgetown University. Barbara was very proud to be the first person to complete a Sleep Study Fellowship from the University of Michigan in 1990. She had been practicing Neurology since 1990 with a subspecialty in sleep disorders. Barbara was a member of Saginaw County Medical Society, Michigan Medical Society and American Academy of Sleep Medicine. She was also a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church where she served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. Barbara had a passion for mentoring and teaching others and enjoyed giving lectures and sharing her knowledge. Surviving are three daughters, Sarah, Samantha and Shelby Bergholtz, all of Saginaw; her mother, Mary Ann Jahnke, Saginaw; a brother, Steven (Lisa) Jahnke, Freeland; a sister, Linda Biere, Peachtree City, Georgia; several cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. William Rutkowski will officiate with interment to follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, where the family will be present on Sunday from 2-6 p.m., on Monday from 2-8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
