Hopkins, Darwin Eugene, St. Louis, Michigan


Went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland. Age 83 years. He was born December 31, 1931 in Gratiot County the son of General Lafayette and Phebe (Phipps) Hopkins. He was a 1950 graduate of Breckenridge High School and married Donna Hagg who preceded him in death in 1990. On August 22, 1998 he married Ruth Ann Lippert in Wheeler and together they have resided in St. Louis the past 16 years. Darwin worked for Detroiter Mobile Home, New Moon Mobile Home and 21 years with Sheet Metal in Saginaw. He retired from Shady Nook RV Sales in Shields after working for a few years in their Maintenance Department. He also proudly served as a Civil Defense Volunteer in the early 1960s. Darwin was a devoted member of the Wheeler Free Methodist Church and for many years sang with their Mens Quartet. He enjoyed the company of others and never missed an opportunity to visit friends. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Darwin is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann of St. Louis, four children, Sharon (Gene) Stoll of Perry, Linda (David) Bussear of Wheeler, Larry (Mary Jane) Hopkins of Florida and Dale Hopkins of California, step-son, Rick (Jody) Lippert of Barryton, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Donna and his brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Wheeler Free Methodist Church with Pastors Dave Mossner, Rick Lippert and Henry DuFour officiating. Interment will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge. Visitation will be held at Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel in Breckenridge on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
