Fritz, Francis DuWayne “Fritz”, Saginaw Township, Michigan

Passed away early Sunday morning, February 8, 2015 as he slept peacefully in his bed. He was born on November 22, 1938 to Norman M. and Leone M. (Kennedy) Fritz in Owendale, Michigan. He graduated from Caro High School in 1957 and worked at Binder’s Gas Station and Garage. He took employment in Saginaw with the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. Retread Plant. He married Patience Ann Beardsley on November 27, 1959. She survives him. Fritz began management training there and was made manager of a Firestone retail sales store in downtown Buffalo, New York. He later managed a store outside of Grand Rapids. From there he was moved back to Saginaw, where he worked in Bay City and then managed the Firestone State Street store until he had a stroke in 1989. He worked for Firestone for 30 years when he received a disability retirement. While working in the Jenison store, he was ordained to the priesthood office of Teacher in his church, The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (since that time the church name was changed to Community of Christ). He was ordained to the priesthood office of Priest in 1986. Fritz loved visiting with folks and volunteered for many years at HealthSource where he tried to bring cheer to the residents and employees. He has been on the Board at HealthSource, helped with bingo and for the last few years has worked in the gift shop as well. He loved the Detroit Tigers and was thrilled every time he got to go a game. Duck Dynasty, doing “Circle a Word puzzles”, his extended family, those he met and those he worked with, his church family where he gave many hours of his love, time and skills, his neighbors and most of all he loved his own family and would do anything he could for them. He enjoyed working with wood and making or fixing things, where his many talents were put to good use. Another favorite of his was being Santa for the residents at HealthSource, going to the coffee shop to meet with buddies and he was rather fond of napping too! Best of all, just spending time chatting and sharing with others! www.snowfuneralhome.net
