Flentje, Jonathan Lars, Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved son, brother and nephew passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at HealthSource Saginaw following a lengthy illness. Age 27 years. The son of Kathleen (Smith) Flentje and the late Donald Flentje, Jon was born on June 5, 1987 in Saginaw, Michigan. Jon had a passion for working on cars and engines. He helped restore a 1965 Mustang at the age of 13. During high school Jon attended Saginaw Career Complex where he began his work at Garber Buick as an intern. After receiving his certification from Delta College Auto Service Education Program, he continued to work at Garber Buick as a Certified Auto Mechanic until 2009. Jon was most known for hanging out in the garage with friends working on cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed snowboarding, dirt biking, spending time at the family cottage on Lake Huron, playing guitars and the drums and attending Lake Louise Baptist Camp. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Staff of HealthSource Saginaw for their compassionate care and to the residents for their friendship over the past 4 ½ years. Surviving besides his mother, Kathleen, are a sister, Anna Elizabeth Flentje, Baltimore, Maryland; his grandmother, Dorothy Smith; aunts and uncles, Dale and Linda Smith, Donna and Ronald Cheever, Pauline and Donald Polzin, Cindy and Butch Gorney; cousins, Dale Smith, Megan Reidy, Lonnie Cheever, Meghann Gorney, Tom Gorney. Jon was preceded in death by his father, Donald Flentje on December 6, 2014; his grandparents, Harold Smith and Donald and Joyce Flentje. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 11 a.m. at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road. Pastor Gib Giblin will officiate. Interment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Wednesday from 3-5 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
