Dietzel, Albena (Kelly), Saginaw Township, Michigan


Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and our “care champion” entered eternal life on Thursday, July 23, 2015. Age 87 years. The daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret (Sienko) Maksimowicz, Bena was born on March 8, 1928 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Joseph Spencer “Spence” Kelly on August 28, 1948. He predeceased her on September 18, 1991. She then married Clarence Dietzel on August 19, 1994. He survives her. Bena previously worked as a Sales Associate for Jacobson’s Department Store. She enjoyed parties, dancing, playing endless games of Bridge and Cribbage (she belonged to two ladies Bridge clubs in her earlier days). She also very much enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Bena was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church-SS. Peter & Paul. Surviving besides her husband Clarence are seven children, Jay Kelly, Bay City; Jack (Shirley) Kelly, Hudsonville; James (Patty) Kelly, Saginaw; Joel Kelly, Saginaw; Nancy Kelly, Saginaw; Jerald (Stacie) Kelly, Seattle, Washington; Judd (Kathy) Kelly, Saginaw; fifteen grandchildren, Jeremy, Trent, Adam, Emily, Corey, Molly, Kevin, Ryan, Brenna, Jude, Erin, Sean and Shannon; eight great-grandchildren, two-step children, Susan (Stephen) Lewis and Robert (Sally) Dietzel; a brother, Richard (Marian) Maksimowicz, California; a sister-in-law, Jean Maksimowicz; a brother-in-law, Tom Kubczak; life-long friends, Ginny Rudy, Loraine Hart and Donna Brandi; several nieces and nephews. Bena was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Debra Peyton Kelly; a brother, John Makisimowicz, a sister, Mary Margaret Kubczak. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Elizabeth and Jenny for their loving and compassionate care given to Bena. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church – SS. Peter & Paul site. Rev. Fr. Andy LaFrambois will officiate with interment to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. Friends may call at St. Dominic Catholic Church-SS. Peter & Paul site where the family will be present on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Dominic Catholic Church-SS. Peter & Paul or Hospice Advantage.
