Whalen, Ronald J., St. Charles, Michigan

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at home with his family at his side. Age 73 years. Son of the late Clarence and Gertrude (Kairot) Whalen, Ronald was born November 10, 1941 in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1960 and married Nancy Schneider. He later married Janice L. McCrossen on September 29, 1999. She survives him. Ronald had served in the U.S. Navy. He had been employed by Saginaw Steering Gear Plant #2 and retired after 35 years of service in 1999. He was a member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Charles and U.A.W. Local #699. He enjoyed woodworking and yard work. Surviving besides his wife Janice are one daughter and one son, Diane and Joseph LeFevre, Saginaw; William and Sandy Whalen, Waterford; seven grandchildren; two step-daughters, Cindy DeShone, St. Charles; Charee and Scott Clark, Zilwaukee; seven step-grandchildren; two sisters, Eileen Hayman, Florida; Clarice Dzurla, Florida; several nieces and nephews; and his four cats, Dolly, Gracie , Nikki and Shadow. Ronald was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Whalen. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1123 W. Walnut, St. Charles. Pastor Jason Baldwin will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
