Votruba, Dr. John J., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father and brother passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center. Age 75 years. The son of the late Dr. Leslie and Maxine (Nunamaker) Votruba, John was born April 15, 1939 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard of Michigan. He married Yvonne (Dolly) Navarro, his loving wife of 46 years, on January 6, 1968. She survives him. Dr. Votruba earned his B.S. Degree at Central Michigan University, his M.S. Degree at Wayne State University and his D.C. Degree in Chiropractic Medicine from Lincoln Chiropractic College. Dr. Votruba was an instructor at Lincoln College, teaching Neurophysiology, Developmental Psychology and Cardio-pulmonary Diagnosis. He graduated with a degree in Industrial Psychology and practiced as a guidance counselor. Dr. Votruba practiced Chiropractic medicine for 38 years until his retirement in 2009. He was a member of Michigan State Chiropractic Society, American Chiropractic Association and Theta Chi Fraternity. Surviving besides his wife Dolly are one son, Anthony John and Sarah Votruba, Saginaw; one sister, Patricia Votruba, Saginaw; a sister-in-law, Nancy Navarro, Saginaw; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, May 26, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Chapel, 1001 N. Linn St. (corner of Fulton & Linn Sts.) in Bay City. Rev. Fr. Joseph Greenwell will officiate with private burial Tuesday at St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 12:00-5:00 p.m. and at Holy Family Chapel on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Family and friends will pray the Rosary 12:00 p.m. Sunday and a Prayer Service will take place at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
