Strong, Gerald L. (Jerry), Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away Monday, November 3, 2014. Age 80 years. The son of the late Ernest and Marjorie (Lisee) Strong, Jerry was born September 18, 1934 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Barbara VonSennet, his loving wife of nearly 60 years, on June 25, 1955. She survives him. Jerry was employed at General Motors Corporation for 36 years until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #4232. Jerry enjoyed wood working and spending time with his family. Surviving besides his wife Barbara are four sons, two daughters and their spouses, William and Cheri Strong, Broomfield, Colorado; Mark and Jody Strong, Freeland; Timothy and Valerie Strong, Midland; Marjorie and Edward (Chip) Cassow, Freeland; Guy and Rebecca Strong, Freeland; Dawn and Ernest Rohn, Saginaw; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Lola and Jerry Lemmer, Freeland; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Chuck Hitsman, Bridgeport; several nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Richard E. Jozwiak will officiate with entombment in St. Andrew Mausoleum. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and at St. John Vianney Catholic Church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. The Knights of Columbus Council #4232 will pray the Rosary at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
