Stanulis, Theresa M. (Berent Family Matriarch), Saginaw, Michigan


Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend passed from this temporary life to life with her eternal Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. Age 103 years. Theresa was born March 19, 1910 in Caro, Michigan to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Bechtel) Brettrager. She was baptized into the Catholic faith at Holy Family Catholic Church at the age of 18 and was a faithful member of that parish throughout her life. She was also a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church for a number of years. Theresa married Edward Stanulis on June 9, 1934. He predeceased her December 25, 1989. Theresa was loved by all who knew her and always helped anyone in need. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor and frequently kept everyone laughing at family events. Spending summers at the lake and being with family was the highlight of her life. Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Jean Berent; four grandchildren and their spouses, Mike and Kelly Berent, David and Cheryl Berent, James Berent and Gary and Kelly Little; six great-grandchildren, Christopher (Hollie), Corbin, Cody, Brienna and Tyler Berent and Zachary Schultz; two great-great-grandsons, Caleb and Ridge; one sister and two brothers, Eleanor Hart, Edward and Lucille Brettrager, Don and Pat Brettrager; very special nieces and nephews, Joyce and Ed Perkins, Gerald and Alice Fortier, Bob and Shirley Fortier. Theresa was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Norbert Berent; a sister, Elizabeth Fortier; three brothers, Joseph, Henry and Norman Brettrager; and by a very special niece, Shirley Trepkowski. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. David Jenuwine will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. and at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
