Stankiewicz, Gerald M., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved father and grandfather passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center. Age 82 years. Son of the late Valentine and Boleslawa (Janetski) Stankiewicz, Gerald was born April 21, 1932 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Gerald married Catherine J. Demske on September 14, 1963. She predeceased him July 3, 1987. Gerald was a mechanical engineer at Saginaw Products retiring in 1998. He was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, the Catholic Heritage Museum, Knights of Columbus Council #593 and Pulaski Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, making wine, fixing lawn mowers, casino trips and especially spending time with his family. Surviving are two daughters and one son, Anne Stankiewicz, Saginaw; Jennifer and Doug Peake, Hemlock; Jim and Stacey Stankiewicz, Grand Rapids; two granddaughters, Sydney and Cassidy Peake; his brother, Joe Stankiewicz, Carrollton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews. Gerald was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers. A special thank you to the staff at St. Mary’s of Michigan for the care they have given. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Casimir site, 2122 S. Jefferson. Rev. Fr. Joseph Schabel will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road(between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 12:00-6:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Prayer Service, led by his nephew Dan Stankiewicz, will take place at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Catholic Heritage Museum or the USO.
