Slivinski, Francis T., Saginaw, Michigan


Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away suddenly Friday, January 10, 2014 at the age 79 years. He is the son of the late Walter and Isabelle (Jurek) Slivinski. Frank was born September 12, 1934 in Gaylord, MI. On May 24, 1958, Frank married Dorothy Lichon at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Saginaw, MI. She survives him. Frank was employed by General Motors (Grey Iron Foundry) for 45 years, retiring in 1999. He was of the Catholic faith and attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Frank served in the US Army at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. He loved Polka Dancing, gardening, watching sports, walking and his family and friends. He leaves a son David (Sue) Slivinski, Cedar Springs, MI; daughter Deborah (Erik) Honnila, White Lake, MI; son Dale (Nicole) Slivinski, Avon Lake, OH; eight grandchildren, Aaron and Rachel Slivinski, Sarah and Jessica Hadaway, Sara and Allison Honnila, and Olivia and Chloe Slivinski; two sisters and three brothers, John (Marjorie) Slivinski, Gaylord, MI; Veronica (Mike) Dainoviec, Petoskey, MI; brother-in-law Leon Florenski, Boyne Falls, MI; Leonard (Joyce) Slivinski, Gaylord, MI; Theresa (Virgil) Vinecki, Gaylord, MI; Daniel (Laura) Slivinski, Gaylord, MI and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Florenski, Boyne Falls, MI. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate. Military Honors will be rendered by American Legion Post #439 and Michigan National Guard. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
