Sieggreen, Virginia R., Freeland, Michigan

Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at her home. Age 91 years. The daughter of the late Michael and Marie (Meyer) Ziembo, Virginia was born September 8, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois. She was married to John Sieggreen Jr. on October 25, 1941. He predeceased her August 11, 2001. Virginia was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, its’ Altar Society, League of Catholic Women and Home Extension Group. The many things she enjoyed throughout her lifetime include a love for cooking, baking, and canning; large vegetable and flower gardens including flowers at the family owned business of Twin Oaks Golf Course. She made over 30 quilts and enjoyed crafts; bowled and golfed on many leagues; an avid reader; enjoyed card playing – especially euchre, bridge, and solitary. She had an extensive coin collection; began collecting stamps in high school and continued to the present day; collected many antiques, an author of an unfinished fictional novel “That’s life” which she began writing during WW II; a love and fierce debater of politics; loved music, movies, and Town Hall lecture series; a lifetime love for cats and all animals and took care of many feral cats. Her care extended to the many people in her life, bringing ill family members into the home to care for them. She took great pride in her home in Michigan and Florida where she spent many winters. In later years she enjoyed many a fine trip to the casino. Surviving are two daughters, two sons and their spouses, Marilyn Rohde, Wayne (Kathi Sieggreen), Thomas M. Sieggreen (fiancée Jan Armstrong), and Anne Sieggreen ; five grandchildren, Dave Rohde, Karen Rohde, James (Jerri Lynn) Rohde, Patty (Robert) Dubay, John (Brenna) Rohde; nine great-grandchildren; special friends, Monica Kucher, Sue Duncan, Rev. Fr. Deo and Rev. Fr. Robert DeLand. Virginia was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn (Wayne) Rohde; two sisters and two brothers, Theresa (Walter) Suminski, Caroline (Alex) Card, Charles (Marie) Ziembo and Julius (Betty) Ziembo. Honoring Mrs. Sieggreen’s wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 335 Johnson St., Freeland, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Robert DeLand will officiate. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday 1:00-7:00 p.m. and on Monday at St. Agnes Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
