Shorter, Diane Marie, Kalamazoo, MI, Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan

Loving mother, grandmother, daughter and sister passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014. Age 57 years. Daughter of William and Joann (Ashbacher) Wilhelm, Diane was born February 16, 1957 in Defiance, Ohio. She attended St. Thomas Aquinas Grade School, Douglas MacArthur High School class of 1975, Bronson Methodist School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse at Saginaw General Hospital, Bronson Methodist and Borgess Medical Center. She was married to Kenneth Martin. He predeceased her. She later married William R. Shorter III. He survives her. Diane was active in the Recovery Institute of Southwest Michigan. She enjoyed reading and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving besides her husband William are two daughters, Cara Kemp, Allegan; Kaitlyn Shorter, Parchment; two grandchildren, Sara and Zoey Kemp; her parents, William and Joann Wilhelm, Saginaw; two sisters and one brother, Debbie and David Badini, Saginaw; Bill and Cindy Wilhelm, East Lansing; Denise and Ron Crawford, Saginaw; her special friend, Brian Maxa, Kalamazoo; many nieces and nephews. Honoring Mrs. Shorter’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Funeral Liturgy will take place on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St. Rev. Fr. Richard Bokinskie will officiate. Friends may call at the church where the family will be present on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
