Ryba, David Wallace, Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2014, at the Cartwright Hospice Residence, following a brief illness. Age 64 years. David Wallace Ryba was born on October 5, 1949, in Saginaw, to the late Wallace and Dorothy (Zieroff) Ryba. On August 16, 1973, he married Nancy L. Fox, in Saginaw, where they have shared 41 loving years together. Prior to his retirement on March 31, 2009, David was a service tech. at ATT for 32 years. David was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather, also an irreplaceable friend to all. His love for music, passed down from his parents to his children and now his grandchildren, will endlessly resonate in the lives of his loved ones and friends as a cherished gift. As an amateur comedian and part-time philosopher, he brought laughter and insightful views to all he encountered. His honest, spiritual, kind soul will forever live in our hearts, never forgetting the unconditional love and compassion he had for everyone that touched his life. A special “Thank You” to our Angels at Covenant Visiting Nurses, the staff at Cartwright Hospice Residence and countless friends and neighbors for their loving and compassionate support and care. Surviving besides his wife, Nancy, are their two daughters and spouses; Angela (Brad) Finkbeiner, Knoxville, TN; Valeri (Tom) Trombley, Bay City, MI; his grandchildren, Ava, Travis and Lia; his sisters, Donna (Jim) Jones, Los Altos, CA; Judith (Bob) Basch, Traverse City, MI; his uncle, Frank (Irene) Ryba, Grand Rapids, MI; and his in-laws, Wayne and Nancy Fox, Saginaw, MI; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends, especially his close cousin, Rich Schmiegel and family. The Celebration of David’s Life will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at the Wakeman Funeral Home, inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave. The Rev. Sue Hand will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Tuesday, September 16 from 2:00-8:00 p.m., then on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of his service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express their love for David are asked to consider memorial contributions to Covenant Visiting Nurses (Cartwright Hospice Residence) or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in his memory.
