Rupp, Wilbur H., Frankenmuth, Michigan

Passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Age 97 years. Wilbur Herbert Rupp was born March 20, 1917 in Frankentrost to the late Robert and Amelie (Rogner) Rupp. He graduated from Arthur Hill Trade School. Wilbur married Esther S. Gabel August 16, 1941. They shared nearly 73 years together. She survives him. Wilbur was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Bridgeport, where he was very active as a former elder. He worked at Universal Engineering and Ex-Cello Corporation in Detroit before operating his own cabinet and supply business for many years. Wilbur and Esther were avid travelers, visiting many countries around the globe. In his retirement Wilbur created beautiful inlaid wood bowls, lamps, and clocks in his workshop. Surviving besides his wife are his daughter Marilyn (Dr. John O.) Stover, Jr., his Chilean daughter Silvia Roubillard, step grandchildren; Alexandra (Philippe) Gegout-Stover, John O. (Lisa) Stover, III, Gloria (David) Lewis, and Patrick (Marsida) Stover, ten great grandchildren, one sister Joanne (late Otto) Reinbold, and two sisters-in-law; Hildegard Rupp and June Rupp. Wilbur was predeceased by his son Wayne Rupp Sept. 18, 1970, and his siblings; Marian Dinse, Doris O'Connor, Harvey Rupp, Edgar Rupp, and Celia Ruthig. Pastor William Hessler will officiate the funeral service on Monday August 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 4241 Williamson Road, Bridgeport. Interment will take place at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to gather with the family at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland Rd, (S M-47) on Sunday, August 3, 2014 from 2:00-6:00 p.m., and at the church on Monday one hour before funeral. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Wayne J. Rupp Memorial Scholarship Fund at Faith Lutheran Church.
