Rexius, Edward G., Douglas, MI, Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan


A former resident of Saginaw, Ed passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at the Grace of Douglas Nursing Home in Douglas, Michigan, at the age of 92 years. Ed was born on March 13, 1922, in Saginaw, MI to the late George and Mary (Meyer) Rexius. On September 26, 1942, he married Helen Klimkewicz in Saginaw, where she predeceased him on February 21, 1995. Prior to his retirement, Ed was employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Operating Engineers Local 324 for 60 years. Ed enlisted on October 1, 1942, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a machinist’s mate 2nd class, and was honorably discharged on October 10, 1945. Ed was a lifelong member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Ed is survived by his three sons and their wives, James (Victoria) Rexius, Highland, MI; Thomas (Pamela) Rexius, Saugatuck, MI; Edward III (Faye) Rexius, Shreveport, LA; five grandchildren, Paul Rexius, Daniel Rexius, Sarah Rexius, Megan Hall, Michael Rexius; four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jayce, Tyler, Eli Rexius; two sisters, Emma Wenzel of Atlanta, GA and Pat Bachula of Saginaw; and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by one infant son, Edward, Jr. in 1951. Private burial took place on at Oakwood Cemetery.
