Reimus, Kenneth (John), Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away unexpectedly December 1, 2014 at his home. Age 69 years. The son of the late Kenneth and Margaret (Linsday) Reimus, John was born July 16, 1945 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was formerly married to Mary Kay Beitz. He married Sylvia Halas on January 4, 1991. She survives him. He was employed at Quality Floor Sanding until his retirement in 2009. John played softball in his younger years, enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in the yard. Surviving besides his wife Sylvia are two daughters, Stacey (John) Tate, Toledo, Ohio; Rebecca (Jim) Chick, Toledo, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Jamin, Morgan, Jonathan, Max and Jack Tate, Payton and Brady Chick; siblings, Terry (Shirley) Reimus, Gary Reimus, Jane Mendoza, Kathy (Ed) Kimbrue and Sherry Kateel; a brother-in-law, Dr. Chai Soontharotoke; step-daughter, Michelle Halas; several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by a sister, Shelley Soontharotoke, a sister-in-law, Ruth Reimus, and by a brother-in-law, Bruce Mendoza. Funeral service will take place on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty). Rev. Fr. Richard E. Jozwiak will officiate. Honoring Mr. Reimus’ wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Sunday from 12:00-6:00 p.m. and on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Eastside Soup Kitchen (John donated venison to them), Pit & Balcony Theater or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), which afflicted John’s grandson, Jack.
